Flexible Respite Options Consortium (FROC)
What is FROC & what does it aim to do?
Tweed Valley Respite Services acts as the lead agency of FROC which is a consortium of five representative agencies based in the Far North Coast of NSW. The Consortium manages and administers respite services to carers of people with disabilities and carers of the aged. This Consortium aims to bring local knowledge into regional decision making about the allocation of resources. FROC allocates $380,000 per year in funds to carers of people with disabilities and of aged persons.
The primary aims of FROC are to:
- provide a comprehensive, flexible and responsive range of respite service options across the Far North Coast of NSW for carers of young people with a disability and frail aged persons which will strengthen and maintain the primary care relationship according to prioritised level of need.
- provide these preventative service options on a planned basis within a limited time frame to allow time for other ongoing services to be arranged.
- ensure that in planning and implementing the provision of flexible respite services that the respite event is of positive benefit in meeting the needs of both the carer and the person being cared for.
